Highline Adventures is looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy spending time outdoors and interacting with new people every day. As a tour guide you will be specially trained to educate, guide and assist guests through an adventure park on a zipline course and an aerial ropes course. You will be responsible for instructing guests on safety guidelines, fitting them with safety gear and ensuring positive, memorable experiences. The ideal candidate is charismatic, friendly, reliable and able to engage with all customers.
About Highline Adventures
Highline Adventures is situated in the Santa Ynez Valley outside of Buellton, California on a 1200 acre ranch. There are 3 tandem ziplines, ranging 1500-3360 feet long and 1000 feet off the ground, overlooking the breathtaking Santa Ynez Valley. This will be the longest and fastest zipline in California. The aerial ropes course consists of 85 different elements to climb, crawl, swing, and hang from all suspended amongst old growth Oak trees.
At Highline Adventures, our mission is to provide the ultimate outdoor experience for people of all ages to experience the Santa Ynez Valley. We seek to educate visitors on the history, environment and culture of the area through a series of adventures and outdoor activities. Our attention to safety and quality customer service will ensure that visitors feel safe and welcome as they push their limits and explore throughout Highline Adventures.
Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR.
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups and interacting with a diverse clientele (locals, families, school groups etc.).
- Must demonstrate excellent decision making skills, ability to multitask, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Must display an outgoing and friendly attitude both with guests and other employees to promote a positive work environment and memorable customer experience.
- Must be a strong team player and communicate well with coworkers and management.
- Experience on ziplines, aerial courses and climbing is an asset.
- Experience working in the tourism or customer service industry is an asset.
- Working toward a University or College degree in a related field is an asset.
- Must be able to work rain or shine, and on weekends/holidays.
- Must be proficient in English. Second language strongly desired.
- Must be able to perform the physical aspects of the job (lifting, bending, climbing, standing, hiking for extended periods of time).
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record to be cross trained as a Tour Driver.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests as they arrive on the site, answer questions about reservations and the course.
- Educate guests on the natural surroundings; geographical location, Chumash History, flora, fauna, coastal climate, vista landmarks.
- Outfit guests with harnesses and helmets. Ensure proper fit and wear.
- Relay all safety instructions to guests in a clear and concise manner.
- Guide guests through aerial ropes/zipline courses, ensure guest safety, and monitor each guest’s experience while on course.
- Routinely perform zipline retrievals and rescues. Redirect guests through the aerial course as needed to help control flow of traffic through each course.
- Ensure proper set up and use of all gear. Clean gear after use.
- Complete routine equipment checks and course checks – bring any safety/maintenance concerns to the attention of the Site Managers.
- Assist with site clean up and maintenance.
- Follow emergency first aid protocols and be comfortable performing First Aid.
- Work well with other guides to create a cohesive work environment dedicated to providing a memorable customer experience.
- Attend specific training when hired, and regularly throughout employment.
- If cross trained as a driver: responsibilities include driving 4×4 Hummer loaded with passengers and equipment on sloped dirt roads.
